Artificial intelligence and the future of fashion

Season 2026 / Episode 6

In today's episode, we are discussing a very important and current topic, namely the impact of artificial intelligence on the fashion industry.

Modeling today feels like a struggle for survival. The fashion industry is flooded with talent, similar to other fields, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find work and secure quality engagements. The state of the global economy is not making things any easier. This is not limited to one or two fashion markets, but is the reality in the fashion industry worldwide.

On the left image, Seraphin Valora created two models using artificial intelligence for the summer collection of Guess. They are cheaper and optimize costs, are faster to "work" with, and are always available. For many brands, this would be the logical choice.

However, the modeling career and the need for models have not disappeared at this stage. This is because AI currently only works in passive processes, such as catalogs and other repetitive photos with no or limited emotional expression.model - Genoveva for lete.beachwear

What AI cannot replace, however, is the human factor. Advertising campaigns, editorials, and fashion shows are moments when clothes come to life on the real bodies of models. That's when energy, performance, feeling, and presence matter.

Big brands are not looking for perfect mannequins, but faces with identity and character. They are looking for models who can be remembered and who make the viewer feel something.

These models will remain in the fashion industry. This is simply the process of natural selection in action. The market will keep those models who really want to be models and who have something more than just perfect measurements and looks.

The character, personality, and perspective of fashion professionals will be increasingly valued because technology can copy faces but cannot replace genuine human energy and presence. These are the things that will always be of utmost importance.
